The Aria's Echo is a fabled crystal singing weapon forged centuries ago by the renowned bardic master and master enchanter, Maestro Otharion. Otharion, a prodigious bard himself, hailed from the city of Thunderstone, a haven of the arts and the musical center of Valtara. He had long yearned to create an instrument of war that could blend the power of magic with the elegance of song, allowing a warrior to wield the harmony of melodies in battle.
Crafting the Aria's Echo was a painstaking endeavor. Otharion gathered some of the most extraordinary crystals from the deepest caverns of Valtara, each resonating with a unique musical frequency. Through his exceptional enchanting skills, he bound these crystals together into a beautifully slender, longsword-like weapon, creating an ethereal blade that could emit different pitches, ranging from high, crystalline notes to deep, resounding bass. Otharion infused the weapon with the soul of a musically gifted elemental, endowing it with the ability to channel the power of music to both harm and heal.
The last owner of the Aria's Echo was Lyrissa Songweaver, a bard of considerable renown. She hailed from a prestigious line of bards in Thunderstone and was a virtuoso of the lute. Lyrissa discovered the weapon in the hidden vault of the Bardic College in Thunderstone, passed down from generation to generation, waiting for the next master to awaken its full potential. Her exceptional musical prowess allowed her to unlock the Aria's Echo's true potential. During her adventures, she employed it not only as a weapon but also as a source of inspiration for her songs and ballads. In her hands, the sword became a legendary artifact, turning battles into beautiful, deadly symphonies and soothing the wounded with its healing melodies.
However, Lyrissa was mortally wounded, or so her former party members have said, the the blade was lost in the depths of a dungeon on the boarders of Mystwall, thought to be in the possession of a powerful undead wizard. It is said that when the land is in its greatest need, a new bardic hero will arise to once again wield the Aria's Echo and ensure the harmonious balance of Valtara's destiny.
Aria's Echo is a +2 keen harmonizing crystal echoblade of spell storing.
Crystal Echoblade. A crystal echoblade normally functions as a +1 longsword, but is enhanced by your musical ability. If you use your bardic music ability while wielding the weapon, the blade resonates in harmony, dealing additional sonic damage on each attack equal to half your bard level.
Spell Storing. A spell storing weapon allows a spellcaster to store a single targeted spell of up to 3rd level in the weapon. (The spell must have a casting time of 1 standard action.) Any time the weapon strikes a creature and the creature takes damage from it, the weapon can immediately cast the spell on that creature as a free action if the wielder desires. (This special ability is an exception to the general rule that casting a spell from an item takes at least as long as casting that spell normally.) Once the spell has been cast from the weapon, a spellcaster can cast any other targeted spell of up to 3rd level into it. The weapon magically imparts to the wielder the name of the spell currently stored within it. A randomly rolled spell storing weapon has a 50% chance to have a spell stored in it already.
Harmonizing. This weapon accompanies you in song if drawn, granting a +2 competence bonus on Perform (sing) checks.
In addition, if you hold a harmonizing weapon when you begin a bardic music effect, the weapon can continue the effect for you, allowing you to focus on other efforts. One round after you begin a bardic music effect that allows or requires continued use or concentration (including inspire courage, countersong, fascinate, inspire competence, inspire greatness, song of freedom, and inspire heroics), the weapon picks up and continues the performance flawlessly for 10 rounds, until you start another bardic music effect, or until you command it to end as a swift (mental) action.
