The Torchbearer was a relic wielded by the legendary Sir Elgren of of the Templar's of Barovia. An order that united against their tyranical leader and the curse lain upon the land. Elgren guarded this even in death, refusing to let an unworthy soul carry the powerful relic.
Torchbearer is a +4 Holy Flamiing burst sweeping heavy mace.
Additionally, as a Swift action, you can cause the head of the mace to extend with a chain, turning it into a chain whip though it is still considered a Mace for proficiency. This adds an additional 5 feet of reach to the weapon as a single attack. A character can also make a touch attack against obstacles or beams within 15 feet and if successful, the torch bearer wraps around it, allowing the players to treat it as a 15 foot rope. As a swift action the characters can retract the head and ascend the distance in the same action, though they will need a place to stand once they get there as the weapon converts back and is no longer attached.
Flaming Burst. A flaming burst weapon functions as a flaming weapon that also explodes with flame upon striking a successful critical hit. The fire does not harm the wielder. In addition to the extra fire damage from the flaming ability (see above), a flaming burst weapon deals an extra 1d10 points of fire damage on a successful critical hit. If the weapon’s critical multiplier is ×3, add an extra 2d10 points of fire damage instead, and if the multiplier is ×4, add an extra 3d10 points of fire damage. Bows, crossbows, and slings so crafted bestow the fire energy upon their ammunition.
Even if the flaming ability is not active, the weapon still deals its extra fire damage on a successful critical hit.
Holy. A holy weapon is imbued with holy power. This power makes the weapon good-aligned and thus bypasses the corresponding damage reduction. It deals an extra 2d6 points of damage against all of evil alignment. It bestows one negative level on any evil creature attempting to wield it. The negative level remains as long as the weapon is in hand and disappears when the weapon is no longer wielded. This negative level never results in actual level loss, but it cannot be overcome in any way (including restoration spells) while the weapon is wielded. Bows, crossbows, and slings so crafted bestow the holy power upon their ammunition.
Sweeping. This property grants you a +2 competence bonus on any Strength check made to trip an opponent with the weapon.
