Yuri - The dirt farmer

A rain begins to fall on, but the mists on the fields do not break. Yuri, a Barovian man of nearly fifty years wipes the drops from his brow as they trace muddy streaks down his weathered face. He looked at the meager supply of turnips that he had gathered from the stony ground, perhaps enough to buy him a meal, not enough to for one of Morgantha's dream pastries. The only thing that let him escape his colorless existent, even if only in his dreams.

He gathered his yield and turned into his lonely hut. The night settles quickly after a quick wash in his basin. Yuri's heart races, the night was always terrifying. He doesn't remember his wife dying, a funeral, or even life with her so much. Only the cold of her absence. He doesn't recall his children's laughter, only that they were gone too. No comforting memories, only the pain of their loss. But, they had stayed dead, which was a blessing in Barovia.

As he tossed in his bed, the wolves howled and the ravens pecked at his roof. The door's would be tried throughout the night routinely. Things testing to see if some poor soul had been careless and left a way in. Yuri didn't dare to light a candle in the black, or let his feet slip from under his patchwork quilt, lest some unseen thing devour his toes in his bed as they had done in his imagination 1000 times prior. But exhaustion would give way to sleep, and in the cloudy morning he would set out again.

Only this day, a visitor greeted him. A man with stark white hair and matching beard. A long black and red coat, bearing the symbol of a god that Yuri's commoner brain couldn't place, but at the same time was oddly familiar. The man asked for quarter for the night, as he was passing through, and reluctantly Yuri had agreed. Things that walked in the day were generally safe and it would be good to have company throughout the night. They ate, and shared wine, and when the stranger asked about the new banners over Ravenloft, Yuri spoke of how things had gotten worse since the barbarian king had been usurped by the old master's general. But things were never good. Yet, that night with the visitor laying on the floor before the cold fire pit, Yuri dozed quickly.

But despite this companionship, the nightmares came and clutching nothing to his chest, Yuri sat up in a cold sweat. It was late in the night when he awoke with the man staring at him, the dark enveloping them both, only two motes of magenta fire burning deep in his eyes. "It is you after all." the man spoke. Yuri confused shrank back in his bed, pulling his covers defensively and before he could question, the man produced an object as if from thin air, and placed it in Yuri's lap. He turned the soft thing toward him and in the moonlight through though his window, he saw the face... Sir Cuddles.

Jeremiah then realizes who he is and feels the call. It's one of his friends using a ring with true resurrection within it. When he says that he is willing to return, he is reformed in his body and gear.

Vander. The ground rumbles as Vander Dawson, Joximo, Malachi Shadowthorn, start to move. Vander says they don't have much time and they go back to the room 3 in The Library of Dugmarin and the The Puzzle.
